New Orleans, part 2. Architecture

When one thinks of architecture in NOLA, one thinks French Quarter.  Most buildings there now however date back to the Spanish rebuilding of the original French settlement, after disastrous fires in the late 1700s...

French or Spanish, it is very beautiful!  The ironwork is especially typical and particular to NOLA.  Bourbon Street, or "Calle Borbon" in Spanish, has numerous examples of the traditional ironwork balconies, gates and decorative details. Any new buildings inside the French quarter are designed to fit in with the traditional style.   No high rises here!
